DIY: Picture Perfect Wreath
This wreath cost me about $2.65 to make, and required practically NO time or particular skill. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, too! (Though wish I had something cooler to hang in the middle of it. Oh well. Maybe you do.)
DIY Picture Perfect Wreath
What you need:
- Empty picture frame - 65 cents at Goodwill
- A garland - $1 at the DollarTree
- A pack of paper pumpkin doilies (or substitute something cooler) - $1 at the DollarTree
- Some wire, twine or string - you probably have some laying around
- I also dismantled a wreath I had made last year and used the garlands and accent picks (the gourds in the lower left corner) off of it. -- Free! (well, I think it all cost about $3 last year.)
Do it!
- Wind the garland around the picture frame. I started with the center of the garland in the lower left corner and wound up and right because I wanted to leave some of the wood exposed in the other corner. If you have multiple garlands, start with the fullest, and layer the others over the top.
- Secure the garlands with string, wire, or twine. Fluff the leaves.
- Use your twine, wire, or string to hang a paper doily in the center of the frame. I drew a jack-o-lantern face on it with a Sharpie, but you could leave yours plain or write, "Welcome," or something.
- Or you could hang something cooler in the middle of it. Or leave it empty!
It took about ten minutes, all told. And that includes dismantling last year's wreath and all of the crazy overkill wire I had on it!
I'll admit, the paper doily is a little cheesy. If you make this and find a better idea, please share a picture at Finely Ground's Facebook page! I look forward to seeing what you come up with. :)
